Shawna Brown has called Washington home her entire life. A native Seattleite, she holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Washington. Shawna's love for seniors stems from spending treasured time with her grandparents.
Shawna's career started in the non-profit world working with college students in eastern Washington while simultaneously working as a part-time caregiver for older adults. She always encouraged college students to volunteer in a skilled nursing facility. After fifteen years, Shawna and her husband moved back to Seattle to be closer to family.
Shawna worked at an in-home care agency for ten years while volunteering as a board member for the Senior Care Coalition. She decided to try a new position as a Community Relations Director in 2019 where she fell in love with the residents. Shawna joined 1st CHOICE Advisory in 2023 which pulls together her experience and her passion for seniors. Throughout her career, Shawna's rule of thumb has been: "Would I want this for my grandmother?"
Outside of work, Shawna values time with family, friends, travelling, paddleboarding, camping, hiking and sporting events.

It can be a very stressful time when you are looking for a safe compassionate environment for your loved one, in my case my Mother, who is 100. Shawna was so thorough and helpful and all three homes that were sent to me were amazing. She mapped out my day and visit times so I wasn't backtracking all over the city. My siblings and I needed to help our mother find an independent senior living community after her husband passed away, and were lost as to how to even begin the process. Shawna Brown was a godsend. She is exceptionally knowledgeable, personable, and professional. It's clear that she cares deeply about her clients and works extraordinarily hard to help find new homes for aging parents that fit their interests and needs. Not only did she thoroughly research the Seattle area for us, but she helped us line-up tours and accompanied us on these tours. I can't recommend her more highly! She's extraordinary!!

We met Shawna shortly after my mom had a serious fall. It became immediately apparent to my brother and I that Mom (and thus Dad) would not be able to return to their home. Mom's social worker connected us with Shawna, and I'm very thankful for that. I had a number of conversations with Shawna as we planned a couple of site visits, and she was very sensitive to his struggles and concerns. She appropriately stayed in the background when necessary, but provided her insight as appropriate, giving us some good clues about what we needed to be considering during this time-sensitive transition. She was timely and a very good communicator throughout the process. I would work with her again in an instant if the need ever arose.
